Scientific research has been and is being conducted about the relationship between platforms and the marine life on and around them. Through photos and text edited by scientists, go underwater to Look Who Calls This Place Home. The Carpinteria Harbor Seal Rookery is one of only four such locations on the mainland. February to April are the prime viewing months to see newborn seal pups and up to several hundred seals hauled out on the beach. Remember not to disturb the seals -- including observing the beach closure from Dec. 1st to May 31st.
